HOW TO PLAY: GRID
The goal
Grid shows a three by three board. Three teams label the rows and three different teams label the columns. Each of the nine squares asks for a player who has played for both the team on its row and the team on its column. Fill as many squares as you can.
How guesses work
Tap a square, search for a player and pick one. If the player has played for both teams, the square is filled with their name. If not, the guess is wasted and the square stays empty. You have twelve guesses in total across the whole board: one for each square plus three spare misses, so a wrong answer costs you a chance.
Every player can be used only once per board, even if they would fit more than one square. That makes the order of your guesses matter: save versatile veterans for the hardest crossings.
Scoring and sharing
Your score is the number of squares filled out of nine. When the round ends, the board shows one example answer for every square you left empty, and you can share a grid of green and black squares that never gives away a name.
Daily reset and streaks
A new grid appears every day at 11:00 UTC (6 AM EST / 7 AM EDT). Filling all nine squares counts as a solved daily puzzle and keeps your streak alive. Every board is built so that each square has at least three valid players.
What counts as playing for a team
A player fits a square if their career includes a stint with each of the two teams, no matter how short or how long ago it was. A trade deadline rental, a ten day contract and a decade long run all count the same, so think about the full career of a player, not only where they play now.
Tips
Start with the squares where you know an obvious answer, and think about players who moved around a lot. Role players with many stops often fit crossings that stars never touch.
